DS finally took us through this thing, taught Spazzboy how to use it..... been spending time figuring out the bells and whistles before even attempting this entry. It's quite appropriate for a first run-through with MT.
Seems everyone got a new toy today.
The insurance money made it in. C's mom went to pick up her car - a silver 2002 Jeep Liberty. As an owner of a '94 Wrangler, and having been severely disappointed in the "new" style of them that somehow hatched in '96.... I've regained my respect for Jeep after tooling around in that car for most of the afternoon and evening. I really like the Liberty.
But we weren't done yet.
C was also getting a car. A few weeks ago we had gone around to look at cars and found out the Nissan Frontier came, fully loaded and supercharged, for a very reasonable price. Somewhere around 24 grand, which was about the base has nothing extra price of the Tacoma she wanted (her bro's got a 92, through it we've found we're quite fond of Tacomas). A few things that C wanted changed around to personalize it and the salesmen said "no problems, if we don't have it, we can order it for you." Everything seemed to be going well, all we had to do was wait for the insurance money to come in.
Today, when we went back, somehow...... no such car that she wanted existed in California, the closest was in Arizona, it couldn't be ordered so is there something that interested you on the lot that we'll cut you a great deal on?
That got a quick "We'll think about it and call you tomorrow"
Over to Toyota. Just to see. On C's mom's suggestion, even thought it was more money than C herself wanted to spend. Within five minutes we've found the car that already had all the options she wanted. A little sketchy about the color at first, but it grew on us. The truck is gorgeous.
Fully loaded, supercharged, X-cab, radiant red 2002 Tacoma TRD.
My baby's gotta BRAND FUCKING NEW truck.
We celebrated the spendature of a total $64 grand in one day (mind numbing, isn't it) by a dinner at Denny's. The irony was cute simply because of the reputation of the diner to always being reasonably priced. We had wanted to go to Marie Calendar's to get a pie or three but by the time we walked out of the dealership it was already 9:15. The T-bone steak was so tender I could use the fork to pull it apart. Considering I like my steaks bloody rare that's not an easy thing to do. Even dinner was fantastic.
It's been a good day. Even if now I'm paying for it by having a huge project to work on just tomorrow because it's due Thursday. To bask in the glows that I did today? It was worth it....
First note! *chuckles* Glad to see you're getting it all figured out. and the car sounds SWEET. *grins* Congrats all around!
