Nick update - 11/27/2001

Talked to C, who's up there with Nick right now (I had to stay behind to do some work here)

He's doing well, adjusting to the other animals around. Curious, still timid, but beginning to act like a pet instead of a refugee. He's finally eaten to the point he's not guzzling food down...... but she discovered that he was hiding little piles of kibble in the corners and beneath blankets in the "guestroom" that's his tonight *sighs* Poor guy.... it'll take him about a week to realize that he's going to be fed on a regular basis from now on.

Found out he's never slept inside, either. C walked into the room he was in, and he nearly jumped off the bed like she was going to beat him after he finally relaxed enough to nap (as in that's the first time we've seen him sit the entire time we've had him)...... after she just pet his head and carried on, she got the "you're not mad at me?" sort've look.

Kid's been abused...... pretty badly at this point, from what it seems.

He's too socialized to be rehabbed to release, that's for sure. Especially being probably a little over a year old. Hopefully he'll be able to adjust well into having a pack and playmates and a big sanctuary area of his own to roam in.

Course, I've spent half the night packing (as it's 5am now), as pissed off and hurt by my mom as I was earlier (long story I don't want to go into now)..... and there's this pretty sweet deal in the mountain town that he's in right now for a two bedroom two and a half acre house for 5something a moment.... and that's lots of room for him to play.... even if it is illegal to own a wolf as a pet in California..... *chuckles* high on painkillers and toying with ideas I shouldn't be.

Ah, anyway, phonecalls galore tomorrow, to see if we can find a rescue facility for him with wolfy friends and wolfy ways.

I wonder if it's illegal to own them in Michigan? Ed and I live on 70 beautiful wooded acres. How'd you like to go on a little road trip, and deliver him? Of course, he'd have to negotiate with Daisy on who could sneak on the couch first when we leave the house. ;o) [Mirror_rorriM]
