Holiday Shopping Fun - 11/27/2001

Okay, floating around Ebay and SOMEHOW end up in the One Of A Kind Barbie section. I'm not even sure what search I was randomly running, or for whom, or by some random act of a vengeful god..... in any event, I ended up browsing further into the section just for shits and giggles.

Now, I can appreciate the hard work that goes into creating dolls such as these. Some were selling for over 200 bucks, and well worth it.

Take this one, for example, made to look like the Moth character from Shakespear's Midsummer Night's Dream

just......wow....

or La Femme Elise...

Rawr....

That is some MAJOR work, I tell you. (Not to mention the cleavage on the one in animal print) Then there were some others...... well..... *just chuckling* Spazzboy and Asshole are just in tears they're laughing so hard (not to make fun of the dolls, really, as I know how serious collectors can take things, but to come in completely from the outside of a hobby such as this, things were rather...... shocking).

Take, for instance, the Barbie Tart couple.

I want those pants....

Yes. That's quite a long flowing mane of hair Ken has there, not to mention the snazzy leather lace up shirt and velour leopard pants. Barbie Tart.......

I just can't get past the hair, man!

Could dig it if it were a copy of Milla Jocan'trememberthenameich from 5th Element....

True....true.... there was also the Jennifer Lopez in the Grammy dress right down to the beaded underwear

Too bad the images wouldn't load....

*chuckles* And then you had Drag Queen Barbie

okay, it's supposed to be some glamourous Barbie, but I know drag queens that would kill for that dress

Okay, it's supposed to be some glamorous Barbie, and quite frankly it works..... but I know some drag queens that would kill for that dress. And I, for one, would PAY to see someone walking down the street in it.

Too bad you couldn't grab the pictures of the one that made Tammy Faye's eyelashes look plucked....

Though here is our personal favorite.

Scarey Gothic Evil Eye Barbie

THE EYES! DON'T LOOK AT THE EYES!

*smacks head* Oh yes. Goth toys. That's what I was looking up. Because I finally found, the Barbie of ALL Barbies, and a lovely bit of poetic irony.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT BLONDIE!

Up to two hundred bucks a piece!?! Some people have too much money to spend. (Of course I won't confess the silly collectables that I spend too much money on.) I never had any idea there were so many Barbie™ varieties. That last one is especially funny. I'm guessing it's mostly adult collectors who've gotten those. I can't see too many mothers giving that to their 8 year old for Christmas. [Mirror_rorriM]
