Racin' the School Bus 8/21/2000

Man, I love it when I have a productive day.

Picked up the T-shirts made for the company, going to be sending them off tomorrow, went to the Wondrful World of Wally, saved money..... scoured Napster earlier and ganked all the tracks from Music From the Succubus Club. Eees'all gooooood. Then, I looked up (always a good thing when driving) and realized something

The big yellow behemoths are making their practice runs for the upcoming start of the school year.

After more years than I truly cared for in college, I had forgotten high school existed. So I began to nostalgize my feelin' ancient self. I, of course, was one of the troublemakers that sat aaaalll the way in the back. I remembered snappin pennies out the window to hit the so-called "nerd" or "preppie" peoples in the head as they departed the lovely busriding experience (oddly enough, I was the outcast "punker" in the said prep and nerd excellerated classes..... bus was my turf, I guess, but I still had a higher GPA dammit!), licking the back of gummi bears and sticking them to the windows...... fighting so the bus driver wouldn'ts ee us...... other people makin out, again, trying to get the driver to watch for other things.... *sigh* my other half never rode the bus home with me..... hell, even smoking (yes, just about anything).

Yep, bright and early, running out the door at 7:15 to make sure I slide into my seat right as the bus was pulling away from it's convenient stop that was, literally, my driveway...

Wait....

7:15? Oh my......

You see, my SO and I moved in with Mom after school. Hmmm..... rent free, she bought most of the groceries.... all we pay are random groceries, any phone bills, and the Internet..... twist my arm *L* I need all the help I can get to recover from college and get a financial base under me. Moving in with Mom into a huge house, noooo problem. But, back to the problem at hand.... that's when I leave for one of my jobs on the days I work it...... and I don't want to either A) run over kids on my way out the door..... of B) Get caught behind the bus as it weaves through the neighborhood cause then I'll be late since I obey all traffic laws 'cept speeding.......

MAN.... I thought racing the bus was over when I turned 16......

A lot of things we think we've outgrown have a way of coming back to haunt us. Some of them I'm glad of, though. [Mirror_rorriM]
